Excited? We Are About These Movies!

We decided now would be a good time to let you know about the movies we are excited for in 2011. There are quite a few and some might surprise you.  It should be an interesting year.

Kenneth Branagh's THOR
Okay the title is actually just Thor but it is directed by Kenneth Branagh. Most of today's audiences know him as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second Harry Potter film but he's actually a highly respected director of adaptations of Shakespeare's plays.  The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.  Hemsworth played Captain Kirk's dad in the latest Star Trek film and was also in A Perfect Getaway (We are big fans of this film which a lot of people dismissed and/or missed the summer of 09).  Thor is a part of the Marvel Universe and characters from this film will also be in next year's The Avengers, and much like Tony Stark's appearance in The Incredible Hulk look for cameos of other characters in this film!  Look for this May 6th.

Captain America
Also alluded to in last year's Iron Man 2, the other film based on one of Marvel's Avengers comes out in the most patriotic of months, July.  It is directed by Joe Johnston who's best film was The Rocketeer. It stars Chris Evans who is best known for his role in the Fantastic 4 movies, but is better showcased in Danny Boyle's Sunshine.  Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving and Stanley Tucci also star.  The film is set during World War 2 when the Captain was taking on Nazi's. July 22nd.

Harry Potter 7 Part 2
If our blog's first post wasn't any indication, we're fans of the Harry Potter films (and books).  We already know what's going to happen, but don't worry we won't spoil it for you.  Just expect awesome wizard battles, quite a few tears, and the end to the highest grossing film franchise of all time.  It remains to be seen what the key players from these films will do with the rest of their lives, but at least they have left us with over 20 hours of the wizarding world.  Look for it on July 15th and bet we'll have a post the next morning.

The Hangover Part 2
We enjoyed the raunchy comedy at the end of the Summer of '09 so it's good news to know there's more where that came from.  This time the boys are in Thailand, and rumor has it that Bill Clinton makes a cameo.  Hilarity should ensue on May 26.

Scream 4
This is mostly just a guilty pleasure for us, but it is exciting to see that Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette all return for this 4peat.  Also Wes Craven is still directing and the script is by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two is back to write this one. It should be a fun horror romp, and hopefully it'll make us jump like the first two. April 15th.

Super 8
We actually don't know much about this, except that it is written by JJ Abrams and that means it's a fun mystery ride. Dakota's little sister Elle Fanning is the biggest name attached and it seems to have something do with aliens, look for it sometime in the summer.

Cowboys & Aliens
Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Danielle Craig and Harrison Ford, this western film is poised to be the biggest hit of the summer.  Favreau has said that he didn't want to make a silly romp, but an authentic western and has done that with this film.  You'll definitely want to check it out on July 29th.
