Blake and the City

Polish your Manolos, ladies. There are talks of yet another Sex and the City movie. Now don't get your hopes TOO high. This project is still in discussion phase. However if these discussions are realized, this time there will be no lamentation about Mr. Big, no baby having-or-not-having woes, and no rips about aging actresses. This time HBO Films is going prequel.

So who does Michael Patrick King (writer-director-producer) hope to cast as Ms. Bradshaw? If you can't figure it out by the title and photo up there... then I guess I'll just go ahead and tell you. That's right, Blake Lively could be your next Carrie Bradshaw.

 This (POTENTIAL) film would explore a part of Bradshaw's life that's rarely even been alluded to. Based on Candace Bushnell's The Carrie Diaries, the next (or first?) in the SATC series would tell the story of a high school-aged Carrie Bradshaw (in. the. 80s.) and how she landed in her beloved Big Apple. Does this mean we'll get mini versions of Samantha, Charlotte and Samantha as well? Based on the book, no. But screenwriters like to liberties... especially when those liberties could possibly reel in some more viewers (my hand is raised here) who don't like their SATC with three quarters of the foursome absent.

What do you think about the casting? Good call? I personally don't see what the fuss is about Blake Lively, but I suppose if someone has to take on the role there could be worse options. Like Steve Buscemi...
