Food We Eat: Brave New Restaurant

Baked Camembert with Walnuts

Yesterday being Valentine's Day (or Cupid's birthday, as Justin likes to refer to it), we had dinner at a place that's quickly becoming a Valentine's tradition for us. Brave New Restaurant is distinctive enough for a special occasion, but yummy enough for everyday. Lots of other diners seemed to agree because when we got there the place was packed. Boy, were we glad we'd made a reservation! Nestled right on the bank of the Arkansas River, it's got a fantastic view which you can really enjoy from their patio on nice days.

Their menu is all their own, consisting of fancied up American classics.  And the best part (for some) is that they haven't forgotten the vegetarians. Their menu, which changes seasonally, always includes at least one vegetarian option that's so delicious you wouldn't miss the meat - this coming from a pair of non-vegetarians! However we chose not to go that route last night. Justin loved his stuffed quail, and Mallory was excited to have over half of her tilapia with Grand Marnier to take home (she couldn't finish it after all the yummy bread, baked camembert appetizer and the tasty caesar salad)!

It's very rare when Mallory's sweet tooth doesn't get the best of her, especially when Brave New's dessert sampler or cheesecake is offered. They're both well-worth saving room for. We really hope you get the chance to try out Brave New Restaurant. We have a sneaking suspicion that it could just become your Valentine's Day tradition too!
