This past Friday members of Velvet Kente and Amasa Hines (both bands have the same lead singer, Joshua) held an awesome concert at a local establishment. The night was called "Velvet Kente's Soul Funk Dance Party" and was a happening night by all accounts. Our friend Cody Riggan shot the night of funk/soul covers for the band and here are some of his videos:
At one point in the night over 40 people were standing outside just hoping to get a chance to see one of the best live shows in recent memory that Little Rock has had to offer. If you're ever in town and either of those two bands are playing please be sure to try to catch them live, you really won't regret it. It should be noted that these two bands normally play original music and this was just a special funk/soul cover night.
